Paper 1.21.11+ Dialog Picker & Chest GUI

YEmojis provides two distinct in-game visual catalog pickers: a native Paper 1.21.11+ Dialog screen and a classic 54-slot chest menu.

Native Paper 1.21.11+ Dialog Picker

The default menu system uses Paper's native client-rendered Dialog API.

Key Benefits

  • Zero Chest Latency: Dialogs open instantly on the client without opening server inventory containers.
  • 48 Items Per Page: High-density 6-column layout allowing players to browse hundreds of emojis rapidly.
  • Real 2D Sprite Tabs: Category switchers display true 2D sprite icons for Items, Mobs, Flags, Smileys, and Custom entries.
  • Click-to-Insert: Clicking any icon in the dialog pastes its shortcut (e.g. :diamond_sword:) directly into the player's active chat prompt.

Category Navigation

The picker organizes entries across 5 tabs:

  1. Items: All 1,200+ vanilla Minecraft items, weapons, tools, blocks, and consumables.
  2. Mobs: Animal and hostile monster heads.
  3. Flags: 212 sovereign country and territory flags.
  4. Smileys: Classic chat emojis, hearts, symbols, and status indicators.
  5. Custom: Server-specific custom emojis configured in custom_emojis.yml.

Players can search the entire catalog by typing:

/yemojis search <keyword>

Search Features

  • Matches names, material IDs, country codes, and alias tags.
  • Instant sub-millisecond filtering across all 1,500+ entries.
  • Opens a paginated search results dialog displaying only matching items.

Examples

  • /yemojis search sword → Lists wooden, stone, iron, golden, diamond, and netherite swords.
  • /yemojis search egypt → Returns :flag_eg:.
  • /yemojis search potion → Displays all brewing potions and splash variants.

Classic Chest GUI Fallback

If you prefer traditional chest menus or run a custom server fork, you can switch to the 54-slot chest GUI:

  1. Open plugins/YEmojis/config.yml.
  2. Change general.menu-type:
    general:
menu-type: "chest" # Options: "dialog" or "chest"

  3. Run /yemojis reload.

In chest mode, the menu renders with glass pane borders, page buttons, and standard inventory click listeners.
